KELLY MISTRY

for Prospective scientists

If you are considering a career in science, welcome! I am always happy to talk with anyone thinking about pursuing a career in science, whether that’s through graduate school or not, especially those who are coming from a non-science or first generation college background. My own career path has been circuitous, and my journey towards just being accepted to grad school (at the age of 30) took over 3 years. In those three years, I learned quite a bit about the process of applying to grad schools, approaching potential advisors, and finding funding sources, and I am happy to share my knowledge.

I also have a lot of experience with science communication as a non-scientist, from my previous career in nonprofit fundraising and advocacy, and am happy to share that expertise with other scientists and non-scientists alike. Feel free to reach out!

If you are specifically interested in the QERM program, SAFS or UW in general, I would love to talk with you about my experiences so far.
